Campus-Wide Ceremony
Friday, May 20, 2022 / 12:00 p.m - 1:30 pm
The University of Maryland will honor Spring 2022 and Winter 2021 graduates at its campus-wide Commencement on Friday, May 20, 2022. The ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. at Maryland Stadium. It will include remarks by graduating students and a commencement address by author, illustrator and Diary of a Wimpy Kid creator, Jeff Kinney, CCJS '93.
Additional information regarding the campus-wide ceremony, tickets, regalia and safety measures, as well as the individual college and school ceremonies, will be added to commencement.umd.edu as it becomes available.
The ceremony will also be live-streamed at commencement.umd.edu.
BSOS Department Ceremonies
In addition to the campus-wide in-person ceremony, BSOS and the other colleges and schools will hold in-person ceremonies. At this time there are no guest limits for graduates nor required tickets for any BSOS ceremony. For general information not available on this webpage regarding BSOS commencement ceremonies, please contact bsosdeanevents [at] umd [dot] edu. If you have a final exam that starts after 10 am on May 18 and that presents a conflict with your ceremony please let us know via this very brief form before April 15. We will notify your professor and ask them to accommodate you with an alternate final exam time so that you can attend your ceremony.

Departments of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Economics, Government and Politics, and Psychology will have a joint ceremony in Xfinity Center at 12 pm on Wednesday, May 18 2022. Department of Sociology and the Joint Program in Survey Methodology will have a joint ceremony in Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Dekelboum Concert Hall at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2022.
Departments of African American Studies and Anthropology will have a joint ceremony in Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center Kay Theater at 4:30 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Regalia
Regalia is required. The University Book Center is the official supplier of commencement regalia for the university. The UBC will continue to provide regalia services up until commencement. Gown sizing and hood colors may be limited after April 20. Along with full regalia packages, the UBC will stock individual pieces, including the tassel, stole, and hood.
Graduates may also purchase regalia packages at the University Book Center’s Grad Fair on March 9 & 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Photos
Each graduate participating in the campus-wide commencement ceremony will receive color proofs by mail approximately two weeks after commencement. There is no obligation to purchase prints. For more information, contact GradImages at 800.628.4509 or visit www.gradimages.com

Q: Do I have to apply for graduation?
A: Students who will be finishing degree requirements this Spring 2022 and intend to graduate must apply for graduation. The Application for graduation is due Friday, February 4, 2022 electronically via Testudo.
Q: Do I have to attend either of the commencement ceremonies?
A: Participation in the campus-wide and departmental ceremonies are encouraged, but not mandatory. If a student chooses not to participate in the commencement ceremonies, he/she will still receive their diploma.
Q: I am a double major. Which ceremony do I attend?
A: Students can choose to attend both departmental ceremonies, only one ceremony, or neither. Attendance is at the discretion of the student.
Q: Will I receive my diploma at graduation?
A: No, you will not receive your diploma at graduation. Your diploma will be sent to the diploma mailing address specified at the time the student’s application for graduation was submitted. If a diploma mailing address was not specified, the diploma will be mailed to your permanent address.
