Get Out of Your Own Way with Lauren Lefkowitz
About this presentation
You are an amazing doer, right? You're such a great doer/manager/leader that you get 'rewarded' with more work. And when that work comes to you, it is flattering, boosts your ego, and helps you feel valued. Until it doesn't.
After years of working very hard, leveling up, and getting to where you thought you'd be happiest, have the most flexibility and be taking lavish vacations, you instead find yourself just showing up to the same grind every day. You have no boundaries. You don't feel like you can say no to anything without disappointing everyone. You respond and react to work instead of planning, being proactive, and choosing your work. And it's just the way it is because that's just the way things are, right? It doesn't have to be that way. You have gotten so used to the daily this-is-just-what-it-is of your career that you can't even see that it could be better. It can.
What will you learn
In this presentation, you will gain the tools to help you assess your career pathway and decide,
- if the work you're doing is working for you.
- if you love the work, but not the way you're doing it.
- how to set new boundaries, spend more time with friends, family, and yourself, even start a hobby!
It's not too late. You're not too old. You CAN make CHOICES in how you show up to work and life.
Who should attend?
This presentation is best for those with a least 10+ year of professional career experiences and open to all UMD alumni and faculty/staff.
