This dialogue will discuss the intersection of communication and justice for youth experiencing cognitive and communication disorders. More specifically, this dialogue will unpack the impact of cognitive and communication disorders on the increasing risk of involvement with the criminal "justice" system. As well as the role of the clinician, educator, and advocate in becoming aware and prepared for social and youth justice for the populations we serve with cognitive and communication disorders.

Dr. Shameka Stanford, Ph.D. CCC-SLP/L, is an Associate Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Howard University. Dr. Stanford’s expertise is in Juvenile Forensic Speech-Language Pathology and Child Language Disorders.
