Effective 3/24/16: University of Maryland international travelers on university will automatically be enrolled in UMD's comprehensive international heath insurance, including medical and security evacuation, administered by Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI). http://www.dbs.umd.edu/travel/notices/email_insurance.php
·Name on TAR should match the traveler’s identification (no nicknames or shortening of names)
·TAR must be approved by 6:30pm three days before departure (please note the Smart Center requests 24 hours to process the request in case we have questions before it can be sent to the department for approval). TAR approval date: http://www.dbs.umd.edu/travel/services/cisi.php
·Correct email must be provided
·Departure airport must be within the U.S. and the destination must be an international airport code (insurance is not available to individuals who originate from an international location)
*Please inform the Smart Center in the message section of the request (step 3) when combining personal and business travel so we can document the business days on the TAR.
Foreign visitors to campus
To determine whether your foreign visitor must be screened prior to travel to the University of Maryland, please visit the Export Compliance Office website to review the criteria and complete the necessary screening request form.
All employees traveling internationally
The University encourages employees traveling internationally to inform export compliance in advance so that they can keep record of your travel.
