AAAS Brown Bag: "Seoul of Black Folk: Navigating Race in the Korean Wave"
Join the Department of African American and Africana Studies on Wednesday, October 28th at 12PM - 1PM at Taliaferro Hall for its Fall Brown Bag Lecture.
In May 2026, Dr. Chinyere Osuji did a two-week intensive language course in Seoul, South Korea. In this talk, she will discuss feasibility concerns surrounding doing qualitative field research in Seoul along lines of nationality, race, gender, and dis/ability. She has published several popular pieces about the rise in Korean dramas and is currently writing a book about the meaning of blackness in the “Korean Wave.”
