Welcome to the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS). We are delighted that you aspire to join us in our mission to “Be the Solution” to the world’s greatest challenges! Joining one of our graduate programs is a great place to learn the knowledge and skills to have an impact in your chosen discipline and profession.
The hallmark of a graduate education in BSOS is research. Graduate students work closely with faculty in the academic departments and research centers across the College in order to build the research experience, grant writing, presentation and publications skills they need for future work in the academic, public and private sectors. BSOS draws on its proximity to Washington, D.C. and on its worldwide connections to enrich its teaching, research and service agendas.

About DGSAC
The BSOS Dean’s Graduate Student Advisory Council (DGSAC) serves as a liaison between the College’s graduate students and the Dean's Office, and works to promote graduate students' interests and address related issues. DGSAC includes graduate student representatives from departments and programs across the College.
DGSAC has been active since 2011. Members address almost anything that affects the BSOS graduate student experience, including safety, transportation, research funding opportunities, and the unique needs of international students. The DGSAC chairperson facilitates involvement at the campus level, and attends meetings for both BSOS Directors of Graduate Studies and the BSOS Board of Visitors.
Along with the group’s commitment to enhancing the graduate experience for BSOS students, the DGSAC also coordinates with two sub-committees:
Graduate Resources for the Outside World (GROW), which connects graduate students with alumni to discuss career issues; and BSOS Research Interaction Day for Graduate Students (BRIDGES), which centers on interdepartmental research.
