NACS Seminar: Dr. Laurel Gabard-Durnam
Neuroplasticity mechanisms and the influence of early experiences in human development
The first 1,000 days of human life are a time characterized by tremendous plasticity and opportunities to adapt and learn from the world around us. But what do we know about the neuroplasticity mechanisms supporting this potential? How do our early experiences interact with this plasticity to shape brain and behavior in ways that can last a lifetime? I will address what we know and where we can go in answering these key questions by focusing on principles that translate across species and from bench to bedside to support youth development.
Dr. Laurel Gabard-Durnam is an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University.
