POSTPONED: Taste of Maryland

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED

Come back to campus to enjoy a variety of tastes from Terp-owned businesses in the food and beverage industry. This is a great opportunity to learn more about local businesses owned by alumni and try their delicious selections. Below are our current vendors and their offerings, check back often to see the new additions!

Cajun Delhi: Born and raised in New Orleans to parents from India, Chef Amit grew up with his mother's Indian cuisine as well as the classic Cajun and Creole food of his hometown. He instinctively melded Cajun and Indian cooking styles, creating bright and flavorful dishes infused with his heritage. After 9 years in finance, Amit returned to his passion and purpose--bringing people together through food.  With Cajun Delhi, Chef Amit is dedicated to sharing an authentic culinary experience through fresh ingredients, love of food, and pride in his roots.
Food Provided: Cajun Makhani, Traditional Jambalaya, and Lamb Curry Etouffee

Diamondback Brewing Co: Tom Foster '13 & Francis Smith '14 fell in love with Craft Beer during their time at University of Maryland, when they began home-brewing in their college house. In 2015, they launched Diamondback Brewing Company, named after the Diamondback Terrapin, as a tribute back to where it all began. In November 2016, Diamondback moved into McHenry Row in Locust Point to open their own production brewery & tasting room, highlighting the historic manufacturing history of the building (previously occupied by Coca Cola & Phillips Seafood) and centered around a smoke stack dating back to 1920.
Beers Provided: Green Machine IPA and Omar's Pale Ale

Union Craft Brewing: Situated along the Jones Falls river, in the historic Woodberry neighborhood of Baltimore, the Union Craft Brewery makes great beer and great company. With reverence for tradition and place, we brew beers that unite old and new ideas, the science and craft of brewing, and boldness and balance of flavor. Founded in the fall of 2011 by Kevin Blodger, Adam Benesch and Jon Zerivitz, brewing operations officially began in the spring of 2012 with the installation of a 20 barrel brewhouse and the initial launch of Duckpin Pale Ale.
Beer Provided: Duckpin Pale Ale, Anthem Golden Ale, Steady Eddie IPA, Old Pro Goose

Zest Tea: James is a 2012 UMD graduate and fellow in the Venture for America program. He came up with the idea for Zest Tea while working as an IT analyst at a VC firm. While an avid tea fan, he would often switched over to coffee or heavily sugared energy beverages in an attempt to stay alert during the long days in the office. After becoming disheartened by the daily compromise, James designed Zest as a healthy tea-based alternative to energy drinks.Winner of Best New Product at the 2015 World Tea Expo, Zest premium energy teas offer the same energizing kick of coffee without the negative side effects. Our teas have as much caffeine as coffee -- about 3X the levels of traditional teas -- and amino acids that help create a steady alertness, instead of the jitters and crash associated with other caffeinated products.
Teas Provided: Blue Lady Black, Pomegranate Mojito Green, Earl Grey Black, Cinnamon Apple Black

Locks Brewing: 2005 graduates of UMD, have a love of good beer and wanted to join the burgeoning beer scene in the Maryland area.
Beers Provided: Surrender Dorothy RyePA, Devils Alley IPA, Redlands Lager
