Russell, Katherine Ford
Dr. Katherine Ford Russell is Associate Dean in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Research Professor in the Department of Anthropology at University of Maryland. She is the senior administrator for undergraduate education in the College.
The portfolio of the Associate Dean’s Office includes:
BSOS College-Wide Student Services, including the Feller Center for Academic Advising & Career Planning, communications, recruitment, and student success
BSOS Undergraduate Academic Programs & Curricula, including majors, minors, certificates, bachelors/masters programs, and interdisciplinary programs
BSOS Living-Learning Programs in Honors College (Honors Global Challenges & Solutions) and College Park Scholars (Civic Engagement for Social Good, International Studies, Justice & Legal Thought)
BSOS Student Leadership, including the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, BSOS Ambassadors, and Feller Center Peer Mentors.
Dr. Russell is a graduate Harvard University where she studied biological anthropology and first participated in anthropology research and fieldwork. Her research focuses on age-related changes in human bones and teeth and their forensic and demographic applications. She earned a Master's degree in Anthropology from Northern Illinois University and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Kent State University.
Dr. Russell and her family support an endowed fund to help Maryland students from Prince George's County.
