ANTH’s London wins Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching

Dr. Marilyn London from the Department of Anthropology was honored with a 2018 Provost's Excellence Award in Teaching. Annual winners of the Excellence Awards for Professional Track (PTK) Faculty are recognized for their contributions in one of three core academic activities: teaching, research and service. London was honored for her for her 20+ years teaching at UMD, as well as her work developing a strategic partnership with the Department of Defense through the Defense POW/MIA, and the unique teaching and mentoring opportunities it provides for anthropology students. A renowned forensic anthropologist, London has extensive experience responding to mass fatality incidents including the recovery and identification of remains after the crash of Flight 93 in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
