BSOS Celebrates Feller Center Dedication
President Pines, Dean Gregory Ball and the Feller family joined the BSOS community to celebrate the dedication of the new Feller Center for Advising and Career Planning in a newly-renovated space on the second floor of Tydings Hall on Friday, Oct. 29.
The new center is made possible by a transformational $4 million gift from Joel J. Feller, GVPT ’90, and Kim A. Feller ’89.
The Fellers are longtime supporters of UMD, and Mr. Feller serves on the Board of Trustees. They were joined at the dedication ceremony by their children, Jordan, Emily and Cory. They were also joined by friends, including Mr. Feller’s former college roommates.
In their welcoming remarks, both President Pines and Dean Ball expressed gratitude to the Fellers, as well as excitement for the opportunities that the new center makes possible to BSOS students.
“The Fellers have created a tremendous family legacy here at the University of Maryland, and I thank you again for your continued support of the students, faculty and staff in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences,” President Pines said.
Dean Ball recognized several additional gifts that have supported the Feller Center, inspired by the Fellers’ generosity.
“Joel and Kim, your gift has set in motion a cascade of giving. More than 100 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends have made additional gifts supporting the Feller Center. The power of all of these donors working together reinforces our shared vision for this best-in-class, collaborative, co-located hub for academic advising and career planning here in BSOS,” Dean Ball said.
The new center features a beautiful conference room, informal and collaborative meeting spaces, a soundproof booth where students can participate in Zoom and other online interviews and recordings, new staff offices, and increased online resources for students.
