Critical Issues Poll: American Attitudes on Trump’s Approach to Universities and More
The latest UMD Critical Issues Poll, directed by Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development Shibley Telhami, reveals American attitudes on the Trump administration’s actions toward universities, as well as its policy toward Israel-Palestine.
The poll especially explores what Americans see as the driving factors behind the Trump administration’s measures against American universities and compares results to data from previous rounds of the Critical Issues Poll on antisemitism.
“Given the Trump administration’s actions toward universities, especially those targeting protesters, we have been carrying out a series of polls to probe how the American public views these measures,” Telhami said. “In the latest round, we found that most Americans see the measures as targeting critics of the Trump administration and critics of Israel more than targeting antisemitism. An upcoming poll will further probe attitudes on this issue.”
