Critical Race Initiative Recognized with Campus Award

Congratulations to the Critical Race Initiative (CRI) within the Department of Sociology for receiving the non-instructional unit award from the President’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Issues (PCEMI). Each year, PCEMI presents awards to individuals and units that have made substantial contributions to the University’s goal of creating an institution of excellence through diversity. Wendy Laybourn, a graduate assistant in the Department of Sociology, accepted the award on CRI’s behalf. The Critical Race Initiative is a group of scholars who center critical race theory as an important framework by which to understand inequality in society. Learn more.
