Dean Ball Reiterates President Loh’s Support of International Students and Colleagues
To the BSOS Community:
I hope that many of you have had the opportunity to read President Loh’s email dated June 23 on the White House proclamation restricting entry to the U.S. of international students and scholars. I want to reiterate President Loh’s support for each and every one of our current and prospective international students, especially those visiting or applying from China.
The University of Maryland benefits tremendously from the work, research, teaching, engagement, and insight of our international students, post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars, faculty, and collaborators.
BSOS and its Office of International Executive Programs (OIEP) are proud of the numerous international programs and collaborations that we have built over the years. These include programs with Beijing Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, the People's Police Academy of Vietnam, and many others.
Together with our international students and with scholars and innovators around the world, we have made great research and educational strides in numerous fields, including Geographical Sciences and Criminology and Criminal Justice. We are committed to continuing our global collaborations, research endeavors, study abroad opportunities, cultural exchanges, and friendships.
To our international students, applicants, faculty members, staff members, visiting scholars, alumni and friends: you are welcome, valued, supported and admired in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, and at the University of Maryland. We will work diligently with President Loh and the entire UMD community to support you.
Sincerely,
Gregory F. Ball
Dean and Professor
