Department of Geographical Sciences Goes Green
The University of Maryland's Department of Geographical Sciences is the first department in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences to receive the bronze certificate for the University Green Office ("Go Green") program, an initiative designed to engage staff, faculty and students in the promotion of "best environmental practices at the University of Maryland. The program supports and promotes offices that are taking steps toward reducing their environmental footprint." This is an especially grand achievement for the Department of Geographical Sciences, given that the department has multiple office locations across campus - two in the Hartwick building and one in LeFrak Hall).
The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is dedicated to promoting global sustainability in all its forms. We congratulate the Department of Geographical Sciences on their efforts and their recent recognition! Please join us in promoting these initiatives across campus, finding new and innovating ways to Be the Solution to our campus's, community's and world's greatest challenges.
