Katherine and Robert Beardsley Endow Feller Center Director of Advising Position
Dr. Katherine Pedro Beardsley and Dr. Robert Beardsley have generously donated $500,000 in the form of a bequest to the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, a gift that will endow and name a Director of Advising position in the Feller Center for Advising and Career Planning. The gift will also provide operating support for advising activities in the Feller Center.
Kathy is a former BSOS associate dean of undergraduate studies, and is currently chair of the college’s Board of Visitors. In 2013, Kathy was awarded the BSOS Dean’s Medal—the highest honor bestowed by the college—for her extraordinary service and commitment.
“Countless alumni have told me about their fond memories of and lifelong gratitude for Katherine Pedro Beardsley, our former associate dean. I rely on Kathy’s insight and leadership as the chair of our Board of Visitors,” said Dean Greg Ball. “Kathy and her husband, Bob, have continuously supported our college. I am extraordinarily proud that the BSOS director of advising position will bear Kathy’s name.”
Kathy said she and Bob were motivated to support the college’s outstanding advising staff because of their demonstrated commitment to students.
“I witnessed firsthand the many innovative ways the advising staff provided important advising services to BSOS students,” Kathy said. “Bob and I have made this gift in recognition of their professionalism, dedication and service to the college and the campus.”
Through time, talent and transformational gifts, the Beardsleys continue to make a lasting impact on the college and the university. They previously established the Katherine and Robert Beardsley BSOS Scholarship for Outstanding Student Leaders. The Beardsleys are also the proud parents of a BSOS graduate, Kyle Beardsley, Ph.D.
This is the first endowed staff position ever established in the college.
About the Feller Center
Established in 2020 through the generosity of distinguished alumni Joel and Kim Feller, the Feller Center is an innovative, co-located hub for academic advising and career planning. BSOS students have access to virtual appointments and to numerous resources through the Feller Center website, and will soon have access to the newly renovated Feller Center space on the second floor of Tydings Hall.
