Order in the House Symposium
This event commemorated the 40th anniversary of the 94th Congress by highlighting and exploring its record and the political change it helped to initiate. Reforms adopted by both the 94th Congress and the 104th Congress under GOP control were contrasted with the current management and operation of the House. With the 2016 elections looming and the challenge to govern facing the Republican-controlled Congress, the symposium had great currency and relevance.
This daylong symposium was organized by the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland and by the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress.
The event was held at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in the Congressional Auditorium.
