Sadat Forum to Feature Sen. Van Hollen
On Thursday, Sept. 28, the University of Maryland’s Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace and Development will host a discussion with Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) on timely American political and social topics, with an emphasis on what can be done to heal political divides and move the nation forward. Please join us at 4 p.m. in the Adele H. Stamp Student Union's Hoff Theater.
"Following a contentious presidential election in November, the political divide in the United States seems to persist and grow with each new news cycle. From climate change to immigration matters to national security issues, the partisan divide is obvious on almost every topic. In light of the recent events in Charlottesville, the issue of race in America is at the forefront of the nation’s discussions, and will also be addressed by Senator Van Hollen during this event,” said Shibley Telhami, Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development, moderator of the event. “We look forward to discussing the current political climate with our special guest, and hope he can shed light on where we might go from here."
