Shibley Telhami Shares Poll Findings on Americans' Concerns in Discussing Israel-Palestine, Russia-Ukraine
Shibley Telhami, a Distinguished Scholar-Teacher in the University of Maryland Department of Government and Politics and the Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development, recently shared the results of the latest Critical Issues Poll in an article for Brookings.
Findings from the poll—fielded January 29-February 5, 2024 among 1,891 respondents using Ipsos’s probability-based KnowledgePanel—shed light on whether Americans feel the need to speak carefully about issues related to Israel-Palestine and the war between Russian and Ukraine.
"It turns out that there are substantial differences in the way Americans discuss each of these issues, with nearly three times as many Americans saying they feel the need to be extra careful when publicly discussing the Israeli-Palestinian issue as those saying the same about the Russia-Ukraine war," Telhami writes.
