Three BSOS Alumni to be Honored at Gift of Giving Gala

Three accomplished alumni from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences will receive awards during the upcoming Gift of Giving Gala to be held April 7 at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. The gala is hosted by the university’s Student Success Leadership Council and is designed to:

• Build bridges and community among students, alumni, faculty and staff,
• Raise money for the Student Success Emergency Scholarship Fund and
• Honor outstanding alumni, faculty, staff and students who have made significant impact on the university’s Black community.

This year’s honorees include:

Craig Thompson (AASD, GVPT ’92), an attorney and member of the UMD Board of Trustees, who will be received the Hiram Whittle Legacy Award.

Jazz Lewis (GVPT ’11, MPP ’14), a Maryland state delegate, who will receive the Aaron McGruder Trailblazer Award.

Dr. Jason Nichols (AASD ’11), a lecturer in the UMD Department of African American Studies, who will receive the M. Lucia James Impact Award.
