Jacob's Ladder Youth Foundation Visits PROGRESS/UMD
On August 20th, PROGRESS organized and hosted a visit to the University of Maryland (UMD) by a delegation of youth and mentors associated with Jacob's Ladder Youth Foundation, a community-based organization that provides services and support to young people entering or exiting Maryland’s juvenile justice system. The visit gave members of Jacob’s Ladder—as well as representatives of Maryland’s Department of Juvenile Services—a chance to learn about the University of Maryland, to gain insight into the mission and work of PROGRESS, and to have fun exploring UMD’s football program and facilities (culminating in an opportunity to watch the UMD football team on the practice field).
The PROGRESS team believes that the visit helped consolidate cooperation with Jacob’s Ladder as an organization and hopes that it encouraged participating youth to feel energized and more hopeful about their futures.
PROGRESS would like to express special thanks to the following partners for making this activity possible: Jarriel Jordan (CEO of Jacob’s Ladder), Kelsea Winkle (Director of On-Campus Recruiting for Maryland Football), and the staff of UMD’s Jones-Hill House.
