BSOS Ambassadors

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences offers students an opportunity to become involved in our college while earning two elective credits. This experience will teach you skills that will ultimately make you more marketable to employers and graduate programs. Additionally, being a BSOS Ambassador provides excellent leadership, public speaking, and teaching experience, as well as networking opportunities with faculty, staff, alumni, university administrators, and prospective students.

The required seminar course meets once a week, in-person on Thursdays from 4:00-4:50 pm. Students are required to complete three service events (1.5-3 hours each) over the course of the semester.

Primary major must be within BSOS. (ANTH, AASD, ECON, ENSP, GEOG, HESP, SDSC, and SOCY majors strongly encouraged to apply.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 during their time at University of Maryland.
Must have at least 30 academic credits (sophomore status) by the start of their term as an ambassador. At least 12 of these credits must be within BSOS.
Ability to attend weekly seminar course every Thursday from 4:00-4:50 pm.
Availability to add two credit hours to schedule during your first semester as an ambassador. Each subsequent semester is worth one credit hour.
Availability to participate in at least three service events throughout the semester (Each event is approximately 1.5-3 hours in length).
Willingness to develop strong public speaking, interpersonal, and networking skills.
Enthusiasm for the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences and the University of Maryland.
