Meet Our BSOS Ambassadors

Meet our current ambassadors for the spring 2023 semester!

Hi! My name is Mariama Cham and I am a junior Government and Politics major from Hagerstown, MD. On campus, I am currently involved in the Black Pre-Law Association and African Student Association. I am also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Recently I have volunteered with the NAACP Jail Support Coalition to support formerly incarcerated individuals. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and finding new things to bake. I am excited to connect with BSOS faculty members and share my experience with other students.

Hi! My name is Dante Schlemback and I am a senior from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. I just recently transferred to UMD in Fall of 2021 and I am a double major in Economics and Government & Politics. I plan on going to law school after I graduate in 2023 and hope to go on to work in corporate law. On campus I am involved in Terps Against Hunger and Preventing Sexual Assualt. When I’m not in class or participating in clubs on campus, I like to hike, hang out with my friends, work out and travel. I am beyond excited to be a BSOS ambassador and I can’t wait to share my experiences and show everyone why BSOS is a great school to be a part of within the UMD community.

Hello! My name is Brynn Larimer! I am a senior Government & Politics major, Global Terrorism Studies minor from Los Angeles, California. In addition to being a BSOS Ambassador, I am also involved with Maryland Images, the campus tour guide organization at UMD. My hobbies include traveling, trying new restaurants, being outdoors, and exploring Washington DC! Postgrad, I hope to work in the DC-Metro area doing something related to policy, conflict, and advocacy. I'm so excited to share my experiences with BSOS with future Terps!

Hello everyone! My name is Yewande and I am a senior Government & Politics major with an International Relations concentration as well as a Spanish minor. I am born and raised in Maryland but I spent my first year in undergrad at Temple University in Philadelphia. I have traveled to 5 countries and plan to add Mexico and Argentina to my list by the end of this summer. I look forward to being BSOS ambassador and meeting many other students/potential students along the way!

Hi! My name is Maura Johnston and I am a senior from Stamford, Connecticut. I am working towards my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in General Business and Human Development. On campus, I am a Teaching Assistant, teach swim lessons at RecWell, and am a member of Delta Phi Epsilon. I am very excited to share my experiences and meet future Terps as a BSOS ambassador.

Hi everyone! My name is Esther Odeyemi and I am a senior from Baltimore County double majoring in Psychology and Criminology & Criminal Justice. After UMD, I plan on attending law school. In addition to BSOS Ambassador, I am a BSOS Peer Mentor and a Resident Assistant. Over the summer, I had the opportunity to work as a BSOS Orientation Peer Advisor. Last spring, I interned for MaryPIRG and I recently finished my capstone for College Park Scholar’s Justice and Legal Thought Program.I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and connecting with fellow Terps!

Hi everyone! My name is Carly Brummel and I am from Lawrenceville, New Jersey. I am a current junior minoring in Psychology. On-campus, I am currently a research assistant for the Cognition and Development Lab and I am also a member of Greek life. Off-campus, I enjoy lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. I am excited to work with prospective students and share my experiences as well as with my fellow ambassadors!

My name is Miriam Adugna, I am majoring in International Relations and minoring in International development and conflict management.  I am an aspiring lawyer to ensure justice for all. I am delightful and honored to be part of BSOS Ambassadors. I am looking forward to making an impact in my community as a BSOS Ambassador.

Hello! My name is Josephine Fallon and I am a junior Government and Politics major pursuing the International Relations concentration. I also have minors in French and in International Development and Conflict Management (IDCM). In addition to being a BSOS Ambassador, I am involved in IMAGES Campus Tour Guides, Model United Nations, the Maryland International Relations Association, and Reslife Community Assistants here at UMD. I am from Leonardtown, MD which is also where I work for Navy International Programs at the NAVAIR SSCO Office. Outside of work and school, I also love to bake, run, and spend time with my dogs and cats! I am excited to connect with BSOS faculty members and share my experiences with other students.

Hi! My name is Ashley Hill, and I’m a sophomore Government & Politics major with a minor in French Studies. I currently live in Potomac, Maryland, but have spent half of my life living abroad. On campus I’m the Vice President of the women’s club ice hockey team, and a member of the Reformed University Fellowship. In my free time I love skiing, hiking, running, and listening to country music from the ‘90s. I’m thrilled to be able to share my passion for BSOS, and for UMD more broadly, with future Terps as an ambassador!

Hi, my name is Victoria Hinton, and I am a senior majoring in Human Development from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. In the future, I intend to go to graduate school to pursue my Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. I will become an ABA therapist working with kids with autism or on the spectrum. For fun, I enjoy listening to music and watching TikTok. I am excited to share this experience with all future UMD students!

Hi, my name is Ryan Jiang and I am a sophomore from Ellicott City, Maryland. I am a double major of Government and Politics and Criminology and Criminal Justice. I am not exactly sure what I want to do, but in the future, I want to be able to work in the federal government and hopefully travel. Speaking of traveling, I recently did a short CCJS study abroad to Thailand this summer where I visited NGOs to better understand human trafficking in Southeast Asia. I am excited to help showcase BSOS to current and potential students!

Caroline is a Sophomore Government and Politics major and Sustainability Studies minor from Boston, MA. As a first year BSOS Ambassador, Caroline hopes to assist BSOS students across campus, especially those from out of state, to help make the UMD campus feel more like home. Upon graduation, Caroline hopes to attend law school. Outside of her ambassadorship, Caroline serves as a member of the University Student Judiciary committee and is part of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. Caroline enjoys networking and meeting new people and looks forward to her future interactions with UMD students, faculty, and alumni.

Hi! My name is Hailey Johnson, and I am a senior from Olney, Maryland! I am a Psychology major with a minor in Neuroscience. In addition to being involved in BSOS, I am a lab prep TA and was an intern in the Addiction Science Lab and TIME organization over the summer. After graduation, I plan to go to graduate school and hopefully become a neuropsychologist. Outside of class, my hobbies include running, reading, and hanging out with my friends. I am very excited about being a BSOS ambassador, sharing what BSOS and UMD offer prospective students and connecting with other ambassadors and faculty!

Hi everyone! My name is Rhiley Jones. I am a sophomore government and politics major, nonprofit leadership and social innovation minor.  I am from Southern Maryland (yes, very far).  On campus, I'm involved in IGNITE as the social events and outreach coordinator, Terps for Change, UMD CRU, Maryland Gospel Choir and Black Student Union as the Vice President of Programming.  I love spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, participating in community service, learning, traveling, and trying out new food spots.  I love meeting and working with new people so I'm very excited to be a BSOS Ambassador and help you future terps out!

Hello! My name is Megan McCluskey and I am from Ellicott City, MD. I am a Junior Criminology and Criminal Justice major, and Global Terrorism and Sociology double minor. On-campus I am a part of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. I am also involved with Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honor Society. Postgrad, I plan to attend Law School somewhere in the DC area. I am beyond excited to be a BSOS Ambassador this semester to meet with prospective students and future Terps and share my amazing UMD experiences.

Hello! My name is Andrea Moreland and I'm a junior sociology major from Washington, DC! My plans for the future are to go to graduate school and pursue sociology further, possibly connecting it with my minor in sustainability studies. On campus I'm a dj and member of press team for our radio station WMUC, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, and an executive board member for the UMD chapter of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars. Outside of school I love traveling, baking, and watching a lot of movies. I'm excited to make the most of my time as a BSOS Ambassador!

 Hi! My name is Cydney Simmons and I am a sophomore Criminology and Criminal Justice major from Prince George's County, Maryland. After graduating from UMD in 2025, I plan to work as a forensic scientist or a social worker with a concentration on juvenile justice. Along with being a BSOS Ambassador, I am also apart of Maryland Night Live, Student Entertainment Events, and the Black Student Union. When I'm not in class or participating in those organizations, I love trying new foods and experiences, spending time with my family and friends, and going to sporting events on campus! I'm beyond thrilled to be an Ambassador and I cannot wait to help all prospective and current students with all things regarding BSOS! Go Terps!

Hi! My name is Gaeun Angelina Son. I am a junior from South Korea, double majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Psychology with a pre-law track. On campus, I am actively involved in the OMSE Academic Excellence Society as a vice president of administrative affairs. In addition, I have worked with the FIRE project, studying/researching topics related to social science regarding sexual assault on college campuses. Moreover, I am a part of Alpha Phi Sigma (criminal justice honor society) starting this semester. My current goal is to attend law school to study criminal law in depth. I am so excited to meet every prospective Terp to share my personal experiences as one of the BSOS students here in Maryland! Go Terps!
