BSOS Flyer and Posting Guidelines
In accordance with campus policy (Appendix A-VIII), the BSOS Paper Flyer Posting Guidelines restrict any posting of paper notices on or in College of Behavioral and Social Sciences academic building doors or hallways, except where designated bulletin boards are available.
BSOS academic buildings (some shared) include: Biology-Psychology, Chincoteague, Cole, Gudelsky, Hornbake, LeFrak, Marie Mount, Morrill, Parren-Mitchell, Seneca, Taliaferro, Tydings, and Woods.
Posting Flyers:
- Paper flyers can only be posted on designated bulletin boards within BSOS college buildings. Please refrain from posting on walls, doors, or windows to keep our campus looking tidy.
- In keeping with campus policy, flyers should be no larger than 14x22 inches, and include the name(s) of the sponsoring group; event date, time, location, and title; and contact information for the sponsoring department or group.
- If you see a paper flyer that is posted on a door/wall, please feel free to remove it and send a photo to bsos@umd.edu so that the BSOS College can contact the posting organization and remind them of these guidelines.
Flyer Removal:
- Boards are normally cleared on the first Monday of each month.
- Any organizations/individuals who post flyers on unauthorized surfaces may be charged for removal/repairs.
- Any flyers, postings or messages that do not align with the University of Maryland’s Campus Signage Guidelines may be subject to removal at the discretion of BSOS administration, faculty and staff.
Other Ways to Advertise
BSOS and each of its departments maintain regular student-facing listservs or blogs.
Consult Appendix A-VII of the University of Maryland Policy and Procedures for the Use of Facilities and Outdoor Spaces for a list of campus posting locations.
Note that approved locations for chalking, lawn signs, and banners are limited and outlined in the campus-wide policy.
