Nine BSOS Students Receive 2022 Do Good Medallions
The Do Good Institute recently awarded nine soon-to-be BSOS graduates with a Do Good Medallion for their extraordinary commitment to social impact and innovation, plus their efforts to bolster the University of Maryland's impact as the nation's first Do Good Campus.
From tackling social and environmental issues to those pertaining to education accessibility, mental health, climate change and so much more, the more than 50 total Do Good Medallion honorees also competed as a semi-finalist or finalist in the annual, campus-wide Do Good Challenge; participated in our selective Do Good Accelerator Fellows program; served as a Do Good Ambassador; worked with local mission-driven organizations as an Impact Intern; completed the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership; and/or was employed as a Do Good student worker.
The individuals able to sport the Do Good Medallion at this year's BSOS spring commencement ceremonies are:
- Emily Eason: Government and Politics major; Honors College (Honors Humanities) member | 2022 Do Good Challenge Semi-Finalist with Latina Pathways
- Matthew Herskovitz: Government and Politics and English double major | Summer 2021 Impact Intern with Bee Informed Partnership
- Zakariya Kmir: Economics major | 2019 Do Good Challenge Semi-Finalist with BIOKMIR; Spring 2022 Do Good Accelerator Fellow with BIOKMIR
- Lily-Max Cooke: Government and Politics major | Summer 2021 Impact Intern with TCP Academy
- Esha Sunthankar: Psychology major | Summer 2021 Impact Intern with The Giving Square; 2022 Do Good Challenge Finalist with Kesem at UMD
- Sara Wiatrak: Government and Politics and Journalism double major | Summer 2021 Impact Intern with Friends of White Oak
- Kayla Weekes: Psychology major | Summer 2021 Impact Intern with Game Genius
- Kayla Whitlock: Hearing and Speech Sciences major | 2022 Do Good Challenge Finalist with Kesem at UMD
- Charissa Zhu: Psychology and Family Science double major | Summer 2021 Impact Intern with Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County
