Prevent Gun Violence: Research, Empowerment, Strategies & Solutions (PROGRESS)

UMD African Student Association (ASA) Gun Violence Awareness Panel

March 31st, 2024

On Sunday, March 31, 2024, the University of Maryland’s African Student Association (ASA) organized a Gun Violence Awareness Panel to highlight gun violence awareness and prevention. The event was planned and led by UMD student Zainab Bah, who currently serves as "Miss ASA" for the organization.

At the event—which was held at UMD's Stamp Student Union—individuals had the opportunity to gain insight on the impact of gun violence from individuals who have experienced it firsthand.

Attendees were also able to hear about the PROGRESS initiative and its mission of gun violence reduction. Through this collaboration between the ASA and PROGRESS, both organizations were able to foster stronger community engagement at The University of Maryland, College Park.
