Prevent Gun Violence: Research, Empowerment, Strategies & Solutions (PROGRESS)
PROGRESS at Maryland Day 2026
April 25th, 2026
PROGRESS drew a steady crowd at the 2026 Maryland Day with our interactive “Stand for PROGRESS!” booth on McKeldin Mall. Focused on preventing gun violence through research, education, and community action, the booth welcomed thousands of visitors throughout the day.
Partnerships were central to the booth’s success. Attendees of all ages participated in hands-on displays, including Stop the Bleed demonstrations led by the UM Capital Region Health Shock Trauma and Violence Intervention Program teams and safe storage education with Be SMART advocates. A community reflection poster asking “What can I do to help prevent gun violence?” invited thoughtful input from children and adults alike.
Visitors left with practical knowledge and resources for continued involvement. The PROGRESS booth successfully created an accessible, educational, and impactful community driven experience that empowered visitors to take part in preventing gun violence.
