UMB Scholar Publishes PROGRESS-Funded Study on Racialized Media Frames in Depictions of Gun Violence in Maryland

Prevention research scientist and Executive Director of the Center for Violence Prevention at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Nadine Finigan-Carr, published a report on racialized media frames in the depictions of gun violence in Maryland. This report was funded through a PROGRESS seed grant and analyzes the racialized frames that Maryland media uses when discussing gun violence, including addressing the problematic nature of using these racialized media frames locally and statewide.
Dr. Finigan-Carr also presented this important report as a part of the PROGRESS Distinguished Speaker Series on April 29th, 2026. For more information on the event, click here.
