Announcing the Second Installment of the PROGRESS Distinguished Speaker Series

PROGRESS is pleased to announce the second installment of our Distinguished Speaker Series, which will feature Dr. Mudia Uzzi.  Dr. Uzzi is the Bloomberg Assistant Professor of American Health in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD. 

The PROGRESS Speaker Series provides an opportunity for university- and community-based scholars and practitioners—as well as the general public—to gain critical insights into gun violence reduction. Please participate in this convening to draw knowledge and inspiration from our keynote speaker and the Q&A exchange.

PROGRESS Workshops on Design Justice and Community Engagement

PROGRESS is hosting a series of workshops focused on: design justice; data collection, analysis and policy; and community engagement. These workshops take place at the University of Maryland (UMD) and bring together UMD and non-UMD scholar-practitioners, representatives of community-based organizations (CBOs), legislators, policymakers, students, and other stakeholders to discuss and formulate key principles and practices for building equitable, sustainable, and mutually empowering research-to-action partnerships between universities and communities.

The confirmed schedule is as follows:

  • Inaugural PROGRESS Workshop on Design Justice - September 16, 2024
  • PROGRESS Workshop on Community Engagement - October 17, 2024
  • PROGRESS Workshop on Data Collection, Analysis and Policy - February 12, 2025
